When is the Best Time to Plan for Your Disney Trip?
You’ve been thinking about it for a long time and you’ve reached the all-important decision. A decision that may change the course of your future travels. You do indeed believe that that the time is right for you to take the proverbial plunge and go meet Mickey Mouse on his home turf. We’re talking the BIG Walt Disney World Trip!
Yea for you! Yea for your family! Yea for great memories!
So the very next question you need to ask is, “How far in advance to I need to start planning?” We recommend about nine months in advance. That’s 9 as in 270 days from departure!
Why Should you Plan 9 Months in Advance for a Disney Trip?
WHY? Because these trips (um…vacations) are all about managing expectations and expectations are met when things are planned well in advance. Choosing your travel dates in advance gives you time to watch for low airfare, make hotel reservations with a good chance of getting what you want, make required advance dining or party reservations, not to mention study the parks and determine how many days of tickets you will need or if there are other things you want to do while in Florida. Whew! That’s a lot of decisions!
Can’t we just decide and go? Sure you can! But you must adjust your expectations about what’s really “doable” based on short notice. When hotels and dining reservations fill up at 180 days out, you will be capitalizing on cancelations, which is a different approach. Different strokes for different folks. IF you can be very flexible with availability and last minute opportunities, then booking last minute may work out for you. However; most folks want to lock in most of the details for a trip that will cost more than a few magical pennies!
