Welcome to Italy! You are met upon arrival at Florence airport, and transferred to the elegant Hotel McGallery Cerretani Hotel. You’ll have the rest of the afternoon to explore this fabulous boutique hotel, in the center of Florence, surrounded by art and history. And foodies will love Florence for it’s Bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine Steak), Papardelle and of course, it’s gelato. As the sun sets in Florence, Andrea will welcome you to Italy with a glass of wine to renew our friendships, make new friends, and review our itinerary. The evening is free to explore one of the many restaurants in Florence.

Day 3 – Sunday, May 17

This morning we start our day with a Walking and Shopping Tour in Florence with the Chef and Andrea, as we shop for savory and sweet ingredients for our Cooking Class at the MaMa Florence Cooking School. After lunch, you’ll have plenty of time for shopping, or maybe a visit to the Galleria dell ’Accademia to see the statue of David by Michaelangelo.

Day 4 – Monday, May 18

This morning, we transfer to breathtaking Siena to visit a local Contrada set within the ancient city walls and a short walk to Piazza del Campo. Our Spa Resort awaits us this afternoon, to test its healing thermal waters and pools, sample a relaxing massage, or experience a thermal mud treatment. It’s your choice!

Day 5 – Tuesday, May 19

Head into the lovely central Chianti countryside to nearby San Gimignano. Explore the city center, enjoying the town’s immaculate historic towers and special sites of interest. Don’t miss a delicious gelato at the world’s top-rated gelato producer Dondoli!

You will then transfer to Villa Cerna run by the Cecchi family for private cellar visit followed by a light lunch and tasting of 5 wines (White Vernaccia, Red Chianti Classico and Super Tuscan) with a special surprise reserved just for you. The vineyards of Villa Cerna stretch across the first hill encountered when coming from Siena and head towards Chianti Classico.

Day 6 – Wednesday, May 20

Brunello wine is produced exclusively within the Montalcino territory and created using only Sangioveto Grosso grapes, a Sangiovese clone perfectly suited to the local conditions. Your wonderful Private Brunello di Montalcino Wine Tour and exploration of the Brunello wine region takes you to one of the oldest estates in Italy – Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona from the 17th century. You will visit the winery’s grounds and their historic cellars, and will be led through a guided wine-tasting of these wonderful red wines, and olives as well. Your tour continues with a brief visit to the charming town of Montalcino, to explore the town’s narrow, winding streets filled with artisan gourmet food and wine shops.

Day 7 – Thursday, May 21

Stop in the hilltop town of Orvieto and meet your expert guide for a short tour and visit to the Duomo. Following your tour, you’ll enjoy a lovely fresh lunch at a traditional Umbrian restaurant specializing in regional cuisine. After your lunch, you will transfer to your new accommodations in Rome.

Day 8 – Friday, May 22

Enjoy a free day at leisure! Or join Andrea to explore his favorite “hidden gem” museums in Rome. This evening we join our guide for a Private (after hours) Showing of the Sistine Chapel. Our Finale Dinner will be celebrated in Rome to reminisce about your Italian adventure.

Our suggestion is to fly into Florence and depart from Rome. For the convenience of our travelers, we would be happy to assist you with flights to get to and from the trip. If you require assistance beyond the flights, (i.e. if you wish to extend your stay or arrive earlier), or if you wish to make private or custom travel arrangements, please call us to discuss your needs. Please note that a service fee of $50.00 will be charged for arrangements such as flights, transfers and hotel rooms that are outside the planned itinerary.
